We had this company do a large concrete walkway and carport job for us in 2004. They did not do all the work they were contracted to do and what they did do has caused us problems.
The minor things were
1. a weak spot in the patio that dropped when they stamped the concrete creating a walking hazard.
2. The coloured areas weren't sealed properly and what colour there started to wear off after only 1 year.
The bigger issues:
1. They were supposed to use concrete that was coloured before it was poured, but instead they applied colour to the surface which didn't take properly, leaving several areas concrete coloured.
2. They were supposed to create two 2' x 2' concrete supports for a carport's outer walls. Moe said they were there, but since they were covered by the carport floor, I couldn't tell if the supports were actually there. In 2008 when we had the carport built the new contractor drilled in several places where the supports should have been but couldn't find them. He ended up cutting out two 2' x 2' pieces of the carport floor and pouring the foundation supports himself.
3. They poured the concrete so it was flush with the top of 2 basement window well retaining walls. When it rains heavily, water runs into the window wells. At the moment we have about 1 1/2 inches of water in our basement due to today's rain and an ice dam the rain created about a foot out from the retaining wall.
The company never replied to any of me emails or phone calls. When they did the work, there was no listing for them on the Ottawa BBB web site. Now there is.
